‘Gone to Governors’ Concert at New York City

When it is summertime, its time to wear some funky clothes, wear them spectacular shades and head out to hear a band play. The frustrations, pollution and heart-breaks need to be downplayed, and what better than hearing a band play live? Cool, right? Now what could be the icing on the cake? A free concert of your favourite band – no costs involved.

You got me right on that one. ‘Gone to Governors’ is to be a weekly Saturday show sponsored by Converse and booked by the Bowery Presents. The venue is the Beach at Governor’s Island (of course) in New York City. The concert has a promising lineup of bands, where She & Him are playing on the 4th of July (a Sunday), Yeasayer on June 5th and Neon Indian on August 14th. You don’t need a soothsayer to get some time off and hear them play, right?

The Brooklyn Vegan will be the official media sponsor for the series of performances. Throw in a mere $10 and you could get to hear the Local Natives on August 7th. The shows will go through, even if rain plays spoilsport or the sun beats down too hard. For more information, check out the Beach’s official website for tickets and ferry schedules information.

‘Gone to Governors’ 2010 dates:
6/5/2010 – Yeasayers
7/5/2010 – She & Him
8/5/2010 – Local Natives
8/5/2010 – Neon Indian
